Same Latitudes
North America and Europe superimposed on each other to show what areas are at the same latitude. The Gulf Stream helps a LOT to keep Scotland, Ireland, and England a few degrees warmer than they might otherwise be.
Worth noting that the Gulf Stream is not a stable feature of the Earth system, and climate change could potentially result in cooling off Europe through changing oceanic circulation. Eg https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/education/kits/currents/06conveyor3.html (Many many references available).

Note that people who immigrated to the US, often settled in areas of the America where the climate resembled their home country
